Bruce Evans

Managing Partner

Bruce Evans is Managing Partner of Evans Capital. Bruce is also currently a Senior Advisor with  Summit Partners, a venture capital and growth equity focused alternative investment firm with more than $35 billion in capital under management.  Affiliated with Summit Partners since 1986,  Bruce served as Chairman of Summit’s Board of Managers from 2011 to 2019 and was a Co-Managing Partner/Executive Committee member from 1999 to 2011. Bruce was also the Co-leader of a successful leveraged buyout of Summit Partners from the firm’s founders in 1999 and of Summit’s second leadership transition in 2017.

Bruce has served as a member of the boards of directors of 39 technology and other growth industry companies in the US and Europe, including 14 public companies. Current directorships include Casa Systems (NASDAQ: CASA), a provider of next generation broadband network technologies for communications carriers; Clockworks Analytics, a provider of cloud based fault detection and diagnostics applications for facilities management; and AI Proteins, a biotechnology company that designs and engineers synthetic miniprotein therapeutics. Former public company directorships include Analog Devices, Fleetcor Technologies, Hittite Microwave Corporation, OPNET Technologies, optionsXpress Holdings and Pediatrix Medical Group.

Bruce was named to the Forbes Midas List from 2006 to 2009. He was also a director of the National Venture Capital Association from 2009 to 2014, founded NVCA’s Growth Equity Group in 2012, and served as the initial Chairman of the NVCA Growth Equity Group from 2012 to 2014. Bruce is the current Chairman of the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust, former Chairman of Vanderbilt’s Investment Committee, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Prior to Summit, Bruce sold mainframe computers for IBM Corporation in Louisville, Kentucky. He received a BE in mechanical engineering and economics, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
